bali 200hr ytt
september 1 — 15, 2024
the retreat & training:
Join Morgan O’Hare and the Present Practice Yoga community for an unforgettable 200-hour Vinyasa Yoga Teacher Training! This training is half online (June - August) and half in-person as a 15-day Retreat & Training Intensive in beautiful Bali, Indonesia. The best part about this magical YTT is the two weeks we have together in Ubud, Bali, which is the cultural and spiritual capital of Bali, surrounded by rice paddies. We will have exclusive use of The Shala Bali, a beautiful retreat center with a large yoga shala overlooking the rice paddies, pool for free time, Ayurvedic spa, healthy restaurant where we will eat breakfasts and dinners, and stunning rooms. It is located in the rice paddies in Ubud, so while it feels secluded and in nature, it’s actually only a walk away from amazing cafes and must-see spots in Ubud!
While our days are pretty packed with yoga training, there is a 3-hour afternoon break each day to explore fun cafes for lunch (lunch will be on your own except for group activities — food is very inexpensive here and the best part is exploring what Ubud has to offer!). You can also use this time to visit sites like temples or Monkey Forest, go to a spa, or just explore and shop in the markets. One of the most magical places in the world with truly the most friendly people.
bali, indonesia
We are lucky to be staying and training at one of the most beautiful retreat centers in the world! The Shala Bali is surrounded by rice paddies but located in Ubud, which is perfect for exploring by foot or tuk tuk. All of the rooms are unique and stunning — they each have AC and will have two single beds, unless you sign up for your own room. Most rooms have indoor / outdoor bathrooms.
We will enjoy breakfast and dinner at The Shala Bali each day, except for the final night where we will have our celebration dinner. Lunches will be paid for on your own, and there are so many incredible health cafes in Ubud you must try! Expect lots of tropical fruit to fuel you through your practices. There is a lovely open-air restaurant where we will enjoy our meals together.
Don’t worry — there is coffee (Balinese coffee is wonderful too!). Plus, we will take an Ayurvedic cooking class as part of the Ayurveda module in training.
training intensive
The yoga shala we will hold majority of our training sessions in overlooks the rice paddies and is stunning. It is equipped with all the yoga mats and props we will need. In our morning sessions, we will start with 30 minutes of silent meditation overlooking the rice paddies and taking in the scenery — one of the objectives of the training is for each trainee to develop a meditation practice. After meditation, we will have our asana practice taught by Morgan, emphasizing the philosophy concept to be covered that day. The practice will be followed by discussion and reflection around different philosophical concepts in yoga.
Workshops following breakfast will be a mix of teaching methodology (such as hands-on assists), interactive workshops like mala bead making, and curriculum concepts such as the subtle body or the business of yoga. Afternoon sessions are asana clinics, where we will go through asana-by-asana and discuss alignment, cueing, and any necessary information for each. This will be followed by practice teaching and feedback!
