Peru

the retreat:

Join Morgan O’Hare and the Present Practice Yoga community for an unforgettable 7-day Yoga Retreat in the Sacred Valley of Peru. This transformative retreat is open to all levels of practice. Gift yourself the time and space to disconnect from your busy life so you can reconnect with yourself and your life like never before. Plus, you’ll have our incredible community to support and expand your experience.

The intention of this 6-night, 7-day retreat is to connect deeply to ourselves, community, and the world around us by embodying and balancing the qualities of the 7 chakras, or major energy centers, of our being. Samadhi Sacred Valley, our lovely retreat center, has 7 bungalows, with each one representing a different chakra. Through daily (or twice daily) yoga practices, meditation, contemplation, discussion, and intention setting, we will explore each chakra while we embark on adventures (including visiting the majestic World Wonder Machu Picchu!) around the sacred valley to fully experience the magic of Peru for ourselves.

The retreat will be a beautiful balance of introspective work through yoga, complimented with a rich sense of community, adventure, and culture. The chakras are all about balance and self-knowledge, and there’s truly no better place to embody these teachings than the Sacred Valley of Peru.

SAMADHI sacred valley

The Sacred Valley is a region in Peru's Andean highlands and is home to the ancient city of Machu Picchu, which formed the heart of the Inca Empire, along with Cusco town. The Sacred Valley stretches roughly 60 kilometers and is an area of fertile farmland and Spanish colonial villages, like Pisac and Ollantaytambo, all nestled within the beautiful Andes Mountains.

Samadhi Sacred Valley, our retreat center, was built in the middle of the Sacred Valley and honors sacred geometry. Samadhi has 7 bungalows inspired by the 7 chakras, or energy centers, in the human body. Everything at Samadhi is created with intention. Even their produce is grown on their land, where Pachamama (Mother Earth) is deeply revered.

yoga & programming

Yoga teaches us to turn inward, make peace with the present moment, and open our hearts to life around us. This 7-day container, without the distractions of everyday life, offers the opportunity to truly connect with your deepest intentions. With all the distractions of life on pause, there is space to carve out your path and reconnect to your life with purpose and clarity. This retreat will include deep self-study, yoga practice, and connection with a wonderful community.

The theme of this retreat is the Subtle Body through the 7 chakras. Each day, we will explore a different chakra, starting with the root chakra and ending with the crown chakra. Each morning, we will have a morning session that includes meditation, pranayama (breathwork), an extended asana practice (75-90min), and group discussion and reflection based on the chakras. After dinner, we will have time to connect in community, sit around the bonfire, and more. Additionally, we will experience a Pachamama offering (Native Despacho Ceremony) and Temazcal & Paqarina Ceremony (a therapuetic experience of heat, steam and medicinal plants, from traditional American medicine).

This retreat is open to anyone willing to dive deep – all levels of practice are welcomed and encouraged. Additionally, registered yoga teachers will receive continuing education hours through Present Practice School of Yoga.

our retreat center

We will stay at Samadhi Sacred Valley. The retreat center is absolutely stunning with its chakra-inspired bungalows, modern dining and living areas, and all-window yoga shala overlooking the Andes mountains.

The food at the retreat center is vibrant, fresh, nourishing, and vegetarian - there will be 3 delicious homemade meals per day - there will be more than enough food to fuel you for all retreat activities! There is also filtered water always available. The food is known to be one of the best parts of this whole retreat center! It is truly art (take a peek at the gallery photos at the bottom of this page to check out some of their creations).

All of Samadhi’s facilities are fully-equipped, and centered on the theme of the 7 chakras, including areas dedicated to meditation and art, an organic garden where you can learn about the qualities of plants that are native to the area, and lush greenery to connect you back to Pachamama.

You may choose to stay in a chakra-inspired bungalow equipped with chromotherapy in showers, aromatic oils, and native flowers (up to 3 single beds in each), or one of the luxury one- or two-bedroom suites (reserved for those wanting a single room or a double room) with a private living room and a terrace or balcony.

This retreat is limited to 25 attendees.

WhAT We will do

On top of all the yoga, we will immerse ourselves in the Inca culture and explore the best of what the Sacred Valley has to offer. Some of our activities include a day trip to majestic Machu Picchu (it’s a World Wonder for good reason! We will also explore Aguas Calientes town at the base of Machu Picchu), visit to Pisac market, adventure around Maras Moray and the salt mines, hike to the sacred waterfall of Ollantaytambo, do pottery in the mountains, and so much more.

We will explore the significance of ritual and ceremony for Inca people. We will open our retreat with a Pachamama Offering (Native Despacho Ceremony), experience a Temazcal & Paqarina Ceremony (a therapuetic experience of heat, steam and medicinal plants, from traditional American medicine), and open our hearts and set intentions with a Cacao ceremony.

And, we will do lots of yoga! Plus, we will get to experience a restorative sound bath by a local healer one evening in the shala overlooking the mountains.
